Arsenal Midfielder,
Aaron Ramsey has admitted
to recent claim that he is interested in joining Barcelona in an interview.
The Arsenal midfielder was recently linked with a
switch to Spain in January, with reports claiming that the Spanish giants may
be willing to part with £60million to sign Welsh man.
“Barcelona play football very well and at Arsenal
we want to do the same,” he told Marca. “I’ve said it before: I want to play in
La Liga one day, at one of the big clubs.
“I watch the league every week. It suits my
style. Maybe I will [move] someday, who knows what will happen in the future?”
Whether Ramsey would fit into a starting lineup
alongside Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets may not be immediately clear after
another injury-plagued season that has seen the Welsh midfielder struggle to
replicate his spectacular form from late 2013, when he scored 13 goals in his
first 21 games of the season.
Playing
in his preferred central midfield berth he often struggled to show the
requisite positional discipline required as half of a deep-lying duo. The £34m
signing of Granit Xhaka will only serve to increase competition for spaces in
Arsenal’s midfield, but Ramsey remains confident he can fulfil his considerable
potential.
“I know
that many people expect a lot from me and I want to eventually become one of
the best midfielders in Europe, adding facets to my game and scoring more
goals. It is a detail that I still need to improve.” He added.
