Arsene Wenger has put Arsenal’s pursuit of Luis Suarez as still ‘ON STANDBY’ while the Liverpool striker is weighing up legal action.
After Gunners have a £40m plus £1 bid on the table rejected by Suarez for the Uruguayan star, which Suarez claimed must be accepted by the Reds in an explosive interview.
The 26-year-old says he’s ready to call on the Premier League in
order to force through his move to the Emirates, and Wenger insists he’s
happy to wait to see how the situation unfolds.
Speaking with Al jazeera Sport Wenger say ‘At the moment the situation is on standby, I heard that [he is considering legal action] but this is sometimes
linked with things that you don’t know as a potential buyer. It’s nothing to do with us. We have been told that the player wants to leave Liverpool and that’s why we’ve acted.’
He continue saying: ‘It’s going slowly. Slower than expected, more money than
talent and the clubs with talented players don’t want to lose them.
‘Some clubs acted very early so the choices were reduced, plus there is more competition coming from France.
All I know for now is that the the transfer is still on track. he added.
The signing of Suarez would be significant coup for the Arsenal boss,
who admits he has been frustrated in the current summer transfer
window.
