Monaco have already made several high profile signings
since their return to the Ligue 1, with the likes of Radamel Falcao,
Joao Moutinho, Ricardo Carvalho and James Rodriguez joining the
Principality club since the end of last season.
But reports in the Daily Mail suggest that Monaco, backed by
the financial clout of Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, have
earmarked Mikel as their latest transfer target, despite recently
signing French holding midfielder Jeremy Toulalan from Malaga.
Mikel was given an extended break by Chelsea as a result of his
participation in the Fifa Confederations Cup and will not be a part of
the club's preseason trip to Thailand.
