Levante
have announced that José Manuel Casado, who will be 27 in August, has
agreed to join the club in principal, pending the outcome of medical
examinations.
The left-back left Rayo Vallecano after his contract expired on 30th
June, having failed to agree new terms. At the weekend, his former
team-mate Andrija Delibašić publicly criticised Rayo, claiming they had offered Casado a new deal, but that it was for half his previous salary.
Although Casado suffered a knee ligament injury in May and isn’t
expecting a return to action until late November at the earliest,
Levante at least seem prepared to offer the player an opportunity, on
more agreeable terms.
Should the medical examination confirm no serious concerns over
Casado’s recovery from his injury, the deal will be completed. Up until
suffering his injury in May, Casado was the first-choice left-back at
Rayo Vallecano last season.
