Former Arsenal player Robin Van
Persie who left Arsenal for Manchester United in the summer for a fee reported
to be £24million expects a hot reception due to the way he leave. He is set to
return to the Emirates on Sunday as the champions of the premier league.
The former Arsenal Player will be
booed according to the fans. His departure from Arsenal have really hurt the
fans so much, they (the fans) were quoted saying
“We stick to him throughout his
injury time in Arsenal, for over 7 years, because he just have a one good
season, he betray us and leave”.
Due to this development, Arsenal boss
Arsene Wenger says his players will give the premier league champions a guard
of honour before their game at the Emirates stadium.
He was quoted saying "When you
work somewhere abroad, you have to respect the culture of the country. That is
part of the tradition of English football and I want that to be
respected," said Wenger.
"I am looking forward to our
performance on Sunday more than anything else. You focus on your own team and
it's an interesting opportunity for us to achieve something special on Sunday.
We want to take this opportunity," he said.
The Frenchman hopes Van Persie's
return will not overshadow the importance of his side producing the required
result as they look to close in on a top-four Barclays Premier League finish
which would secure Champions League qualification.
"We respect Robin Van Persie like
every other player who has left us and came back to the Emirates. We are giving
the guard of honor to the team not only Robin alone, so if we give Manchester
United guard of honor they deserve it.
